Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.
Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!
We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!
Day 24 of posting mining earnings from the day before: 708 sats on 10Jan2024! Running total: 19,097 sats!

Sorry for your cowboy loss 🤠 good to see you back in the saddle
Baby girl fell sick and had a fever, so my wife had to take childcare leave to take her to the doctor. To dampen this curveball a bit, I used my sats on SN to buy a $6 worthy of takeout food voucher on Bitrefill. I got 97 sats as cashback. It’s good to neutralise the bitterness of life’s trials.
reply
Hang in there. We recently went straight from an ear infection to bronchitis. Hopefully, your daughter will be more cooperative about following doctors' orders.
reply
curious - did you take baby to take any vaccines? or is it a must?
I feel like, as a parent, you are way more worried about the kid getting sick than you are being sick yourself - unconditional love is quite a fascinating thing.
reply
Her fever has subsided. I’m still amazed at how babies fall in n out of sickness so inexplicably (and inevitably) haha

Hey is @Natalia still in the saloon? Got a question ever been to Cappadocia, Türkiye
This underground city looks cool AF
reply
I haven't been to there yet, too touristy, but there are many cool underground cities around, check out
  • Kaymakli Underground City
  • Derinkuyu Underground City
I'm heading to see something much cooler in a bit:)
reply
Awesome
reply
Turkey is in a fascinating land, like there is always something to do each month, and you will never get bored, maybe it is your favorite fruits' season, or rose or lavender season, or even nuts.
  • Springtime, I look forward to seeing tulips the most. (April is the best time to see it )
  • Summer could be a bit hot ( August is really hot ), good to head to the the black sea region to see lush and green, and avoid the heat; or stay still to learn crafts and arts.
  • Autumn, it's great traveling around to admire history and beauty.
  • Winter time, nice heading to the south for warmer weather.
I spent quite some time to learn about when it's the best time go to where, seeing specific things, like cultural celebrations or nature wise, still improving it 😂 such a nomad, indeed!

Congrats on your 100 117. Not stopping to peak at 117 days? You could aim for 1,170 days (just over 3 years).
reply
Yeah, I'll aim for the 1170 haha! Maybe something special will happen on 117?? We will see!

Looking forward to it. BTW has any stacker solved your extensive bio puzzle yet?
reply
Technically yes, but only after few helpful hints and fixing some misinterpretations of the clues. Partly my fault, which ended up a theme in my puzzles, even though I thought I double-checked their solutions enough . There was a ln.cash URL in that image that led to some sats that was claimed.
Maybe I'll polish up the puzzle a bit, add a few rules that the puzzle follows, and re-release it. It was really fun to make, and I could use more feedback.
Sadly txt.fyi is no more, it was very handy for cool little internet dead drops haha

ETF feels like the Super Bowl to me, or some comparable thing -- top of mind, everyone talking about it. But I assume to normies this is not the case. Anyone have any anecdotes of how this is impacting non-bitcoiners? Comments they're making, anything?
reply
Comments they're making, anything?
They don't seem to viscerally hate it as much as I expected. Progress?
Should be interesting to see if public opinion begins to shift once Blackrock et al. roll out their marketing.
reply
It seems about as impactful to them as any other new ETF (or financial instrument in general).
reply
Hugh day in the space all! 15 years after Hal Finney mined the first block from Satoshi the ETF’s got approved. Congrats we front ran Wallstreet! Bitcoin IPO day let’s go!
reply
US markets open, ETFs live.
Hold onto your hats, cowboys.
reply
So much for going dark... Don’t you have something to be doing fiat related right now? lol
reply
Let's just say that today has not been a productive day.
It's cool, I can make up for it over the weekend.
But this is just too good to miss.
reply
Agreed. Screw theoretical economics for the day .. this is happening.

It's funny, I am not a trader and basically everything I have is in cold storage (aside from some miners). If BTC shot to the moon tomorrow it wouldn't really impact my life because I'm not selling anytime soon.
...but there is something primal about seeing NGU that I can't resist. If we wicked to $100k by next week, I bet even @DarthCoin would cream his pants.
reply
Agreed. I’m still trying to pull in the fiat while I can.
Darth waould describe it as ‘inevitable’.. while sending his suit for dry cleaning.

I AM CALLING FOR ALL BITCOINERS WITH BALLS, FOR MASS CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE OF 2024 AND ONGOING !
Today I have 4 entire years of TOTAL civil disobedience and more than 8 years of not paying any taxes to thieves !
If I was able to do it, you can do it too!
Oh, you don't know what is "civil disobedience" ? Here is a TLDR:
  • do not comply with any request from a government. I mean ANYTHING. Just ignore what they say.
  • do not pay any taxes. Simply reply to their requests with a letter of conditional acceptance. If you don't know what is conditional acceptance, read and learn.
  • do not go to vote any politician. FUCK'EM'ALL
  • if you work for a public institution (people's money): quit that job and start doing a private contracting. Accept, ONLY Bitcoin as form of payment. Demand to be paid in Bitcoin !
  • withdraw all your money from any bank and convert them to Bitcoin. Don't be a pussy DCAing...
  • use only Bitcoin. Who still have fiat money and bank account open is a fucking pussy slave.
  • buy only from merchants that accept Bitcoin.
  • create around you that Bitcoin circular economy
IT'S ABOUT SENDING A MESSAGE AND NOT ABOUT GETTING RICH...

Thursday is here, also known as little Friday, and it's time to crank up the energy, almost time for the weekend and to relax so come on gang, let's do this!!! If you feel like you're not giving your A game, just think of the end result or your goal to accomplish and make it into smaller ones, and just do one at a time, you've got this and I believe in you, I'm proud of what you've done, if difficulties are getting tough, know that they too shall pass and you will remain standing, always with a head held high because you're important and you know you're awesome. Keep on keeping on gang!! May your day be phenomenal and full of success! As always, be well and stay frosty!! Let's doooooo this!!

Maybe we need something like Tor but for Lightning only.
A big problem with Tor is that there are few exit nodes because people don't want to be responsible for illegal stuff other people would be exiting through their nodes.
But with Lightning there wouldn't be that problem. Everybody can relay Lightning messages through the internet. Whatever, your ISP doesn't know what payments those are anyways - and even if he knew they could from anyone n the Lightning network

Howdy there! I'm new on SN and I am trying to get my head around the reward system.
Got 2698 sats stacked, but the notifications says that 2413 are from the first shared post, and other 1733 from rewards and I understand there's some fees that go to the reward pool. In any case, shouldn't be my total stack equal or near to 4146?! What am I missing? I don't get it

Because I am petty and vindictive, let's start a no-coiner tears thread. I'll start:
Bitcoin represents serfdom, stagnation, and subjugation to the tyranny of the discredited ideas from the middle ages. Fiat money represents a future of growth, sovereignty and freedom in an advanced information economy.
