Hi <Client>,
You’re receiving this email because you have an Unchained personal account. We wanted to inform you that we are changing the way that we charge for personal accounts this year.
Currently, personal accounts are charged when Unchained is asked to co-sign bitcoin transactions with our key. Starting today, all new Unchained personal accounts will have an annual account fee of $250. Prices for IRA, trust, and business accounts are not changing.
Eventually, all personal accounts, such as your existing account, will be charged a $250 annual fee, but nothing is changing for your existing account today.
Why change how personal accounts are charged?
We've undertaken significant initiatives to fortify the Unchained enterprise key and our operational security over the last few years. These enhancements are not just a response to growing challenges in digital security but are also indicative of a proactive measure to safeguard the over $4 billion worth of bitcoin Unchained helps to secure.
We will continue to improve the security of the already best-in-class Unchained enterprise key and our operations to ensure we are there to assist you for the long term.
Your annual account fee delivers you:
Peace of mind knowing there’s a world-class US-based support team that you can contact for help with bitcoin
Access to the Unchained enterprise key for up to 4 cosignatures per year and to our suite of bitcoin-only products and services
Continual upgrades to Unchained key security and infrastructure
And critically, access to the Unchained enterprise key as part of your bitcoin security means you get:
Industry-leading security processes backed by SOC 1 and 2 certifications
An elite signing team that manually reviews every transaction in person before applying a cosignature
Over 6 years of operations with zero lost bitcoin
When will your existing personal account be charged?
Later this year, you will receive a separate 30-day advance notice before your account fee is due for existing personal accounts. We expect to begin sending invoices toward the second half of 2024.
Your existing personal account will remain as is with all the same benefits for several months until you receive your invoice around the second half of 2024.
Account closure process
If the new account fee structure causes you to want to close your personal account, as your key agent, we are committed to ensuring your bitcoin remains secure until you can make arrangements to move it and close your account. We will offer programs and guidance to mitigate the costs and challenges of secure and timely offboarding.
We thank you for your continued support and can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on for 2024 to help you secure, manage, and grow your bitcoin wealth.
If you have any questions about this change, feel free to reply to this email and we'd be happy to assist you.
Thank you,
The Unchained Team
