I also used to do that (and it helped) but I couldn't figure out the best way to listen to music in bed; trying to fall asleep. Using headphones got annoying since I can't move my head around and earplugs did hurt after a while. Sometimes, I also woke up entangled in them, lol So I kind of stopped doing that, too. And listening to music from a speaker isn't always possible (annoying for others) and it's also not the same.
I use the phone, put it close but not too close where I can still hear it, and set the automatic closing time 👀
The fear was that I didn't know what to do with all that time awake. So I was afraid of being too bored to much.
oh, I don't think I will ever get bored, that's always fun thing to do and try.
Try putting the phone under your pillow. It resonates through the pillow even at low volume

interesting, but then I also don't want to be too close to the phone, especially when sleeping:)
