The NFL released their pro bowl rosters yesterday. I know the pro bowl is a ridiculous event and that many of the initially selected players won't even play in the game and alternates will be chosen but it is still fun to review the selections for the good the bad and the ugly. Other than a couple small gripes I have such as Bobby Wagner (great career but not the same player anymore) making the team, I think the selections are good. Here are the rosters:

Shill me what the NFL got wrong here!
Who got slighted? and who on this list doesn't belong in the pro bowl?
Sats for all, GR
So, it is basically the AFC vs the 49ers. That seems about right.
How does the league differentiate OLB from DE? From what I can tell, those guys all play the same position. I think Robert Spillaine had a Pro Bowl caliber season at LB for the Raiders, but since they only really take two LB now I'm not saying he got snubbed.
I didn't watch a lot of Rams this year. Was Kyren Williams really one of the three best RB's? Maybe Deebo should have been listed at RB.
What about Hurts vs Stafford? I think the value of the Tush Push gets lost in the stats.
reply
I don't know how they differentiate between OLB and DE. They have too many DEs to choose from so they need to call some OLBs I suppose.
Williams has been great recently. He is second in NFL in rushing yards, third in TDs and only 12GP. I think he belongs. Maybe you take Montgomery from Detroit over Swift if you want to contest the RBs. Swift has more yards but Montgomery more TDs so it's a toss up. Swift probably lost out on a handful of TDs because of tush push.
I don't think Hurts is having a better season than Stafford, but again maybe Goff from Detroit has an argument. Hurts is tough to gauge because he has really struggled in some big games but if you factor in his run ability and the tush push effect getting additional first downs and TDs maybe he does deserve it.

I was also thinking about Detroit having a really good running game, but I didn't know if either of their good backs had done enough.
I agree about the pass rushers. Those guys are all amongst the best players in the league, so they deserve the spots in that sense. It just goes against my instinct that the Pro Bowl team should resemble a real team and whether those guys are OLB or DE is about the scheme. Teams don't use two pass rushers at DE and then two more at OLB.

I think if any team got underrepresented it is the Lions and maybe the Bills but Bills have had so many injuries and Allen and Diggs haven't had great years.
Crazy the Bills can still get the 2 seed despite the up and down season. Ravens doing them no favours by sitting Lamar. They may need to win that game against Miami to get in.
reply
No josh 😢 must be the INTs
reply
I think if he had big games the past couple weeks he probably would have got selected.
Any other Bills you think got snubbed?
reply
Yeah he’s been off these last few weeks . Ed Oliver should of made it
reply
Mahomes feels like a stretch. He has had a lack-luster year, IMO.
reply
Fair but he doesn't have a ton of weapons anymore and has more yards and less INTs than Allen who I guess would be the next option considering Stroud has missed games and Lawrence hasn't had a great year.
reply
Good points. I am probably comparing him to his past years performances, instead of comparing him to other AFC QBs this season.
I am also probably a little biased because I felt I didn't get the ROI I wanted by drafting him where I did in my fantasy league this year LOL
reply
A number of QBs got hurt this year as well. If Rodgers, Burrow, Herbert hadn't got hurt maybe one of those QBs would have outshined him.
