Jolts Report looks a bit recessionary. But let's pretend there's nothing to see here. And do not compare the last year to 2008! That's a sin.
The US labor market has been very suspicious for a while now. Even before Covid, there were tons of ads for relatively high paying entry level positions. Since Covid, employers have been consistently complaining about not being able to find workers and there are "help wanted" signs every where. I have yet to hear a good explanation that reconciles the official job numbers with those facts.
