Anki is a powerful open source tool for this.
Indeed. Anki is great, especially for making your own flashcards. Making one's own cards helps the process dramatically, but I mostly ended up using pre-made lists for my languages...

Yeah I've been trying to be a purist and make my own deck, but it's definitely slow going. There are some good plugins that speed things up a ton though. I may switch my approach in the future after I finish a foundation of about 1k words.
What language are you learning now? I'm working on Spanish.
Edit: I just saw on another post you're learning Korean. That seems like it would be challenging!

Right now, not actively learning Korean, but due to my personal conditions, I get to use it nearly every day... so definitely some passive learning going on.
