OK. If you're happy with the quality of (and ads associated with) free options, then good for you. To each their own. The article then isn't really aimed at you, I guess. (Did you actually read the article, btw?)
But if you're already paying for Spotify (for whatever reason), then Tidal offers real competitive pricing these days - especially for music lovers. It hasn't always been the case, because they necessarily started out with a smaller catalogue. I'll give you that.
Also, last time I checked both Tidal and Spotify had free ad-sponsored plans. Not sure if that's still true, though.
