I'm playing a new game on SN:
Spend all your sats in a day and then see how many sats you get back. If you don't get any sats back, you're out. The goal is to "stay alive" as many days as possible. So it's basically a survival game.
Maybe I am late to the party.
I look forward to asking ‘how did you get a freebie post?’ while you wait for the sat tide to roll back in…. Lol
It is hard to give the damn things away sometimes.

I've noticed the same. I wonder if I should run a more principled experiment, like @ekzyis is doing here, and @Undisciplined has done?
The main barrier is the attention that it would require to do at enough scale to matter. But maybe that could be part of the experiment too? Hmm.
reply
Okay, that escalated quickly.

I guess we could give reward sats back to the pool each day and live on daily zaps? Or limit the number of zaps you can make; morning balance divided by 10 say….
Why does scale matter?

Why does scale matter?
Only because me zapping twice a day is likely to disappear into the void as an effect that anyone would notice on SN. In terms of keeping our heads above water, it wouldn't matter.

Hmmm

My experiment is basically on autopilot. The only thing I do is set my default zap in the morning to 1/1000th of the balance in my SN wallet.

Are you generally in the black from this methodology, still? I remember you saying that a couple of times you were making money. Still true?
reply
I'm hovering around 300 right now, but we've had several days in a row of content rewards which don't benefit me as much as zap rewards.
I don't recall exactly when I started and what that balance was (poor experimental design on my part), but I'm pretty sure I made almost all of my current balance over about 6 months.
I'm curious how these rapidly rising posting fees will play into it. If the rewards pool grows dramatically, I should start seeing more growth.

Oh, I forgot about the freebie posts, lol.
I imagined the game rules to be like this:
If you don't have any more sats and you also don't get any more sats next day, you're out.
But using freebie posts makes this a lot easier. This might be easy mode. But people will see that I am a freebie now and thus might not zap me on purpose for extra difficulty. Or have mercy with me :)
reply
Cool idea!
It directly conflicts with my project of trying to locate the optimal default zap amount or else I'd join in. I'll be watching with interest.
Good luck!

As part of this you could only use freebie posts (after 24hrs with zero sats) and you have to start it with;
‘I’m just a poor stacker, nobody loves me’
Maybe the first person to reply and zap ‘spare him his life from this monstrosity’ wins a limited edition single sat :D

An inscription w/ @ekzyis's face crossed w/ Freddie Mercury.

Is it worth clogging up the chain with inscriptions like that?…. absolutely! Lol

Enable a survivor mode. Sats trickle into an OSS charity of your choice until they're all gone. Stay alive

@ekzyis is procrastinating detected - where are all the promised posts 🧐
reply
btw, I detect the opposite of procrastination from you. Just busy Christmas? I hope you don't miss @DarthCoin and @nemo too much. What would I do if @Natalia also is missing?
Further btw, have you seen the thread with @nemo and @DarthCoin arguing about the stolen 4 BTC?
@DarthCoin seemed to respond very emotionally. Was kind of surprising to see.

I def miss @DarthCoin and @nemo!
Me too, I think I was more projecting regarding "hope you don't miss them too much", lol
keep procrastinating and no one here to keep reminding you? haha
haha exactly! I think I will completely overhaul my blog "soon". You were right with delphi, the contrast sucks, haha:
I like the current color, but it hurts my eye to read it.

I was too lazy to find the link when I posted my reply. But now I realized it's simply the last post from @DarthCoin, lol
