I just catched up on the 3rd movie. And there are rumors suggest that maybe the last two parts won't be made anymore.
I personally love the worldbuilding of this universe here in general. I also like the style of visuals of the latest movies. But they really botched the ending of the last Harry Potter part with underwhelming lore and logic. And the Fantastic Beast movies just continue leaving open threads and rely on "it's magic don't think too much about it" lore and plot IMO.
What do you think? Seen it? Liked it? Hated it?
I remember being entertained by them, but reusing fantasy universes like this tends to debase the universe. Follow-ons are never as magical and eventually spend all of our nostalgia much like a tv series that's gone on too long.
All the spinoffs and remakes and prequels are a sign that the art industrial complex has lost its nerve, senses scarcity, and can't stomach risks.
I'm upset for the coming prequel to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. They've replaced an irreplaceable Gene Wilder who at best has the in vogue physiognomy and ketamine affect.

They had to forced out Johnny Depp's role in the 3rd movie because of his court case with ex-wife. That alone killed the franchise in my eyes.

You're right. Especially annoying since Depp was the victim not the perpetrator. Also annoying that they didn't even try to make the new Grindelwald lookalike or give a lore reason for him to look different. Bummer!
