Hmm, this is pretty interesting. Just a back of the envelope calculation, I wanted to see if this data rate is sufficient to run a bitcoin node over Ham radio, and it seems feasible.

A bitcoin node uploads about 5 gigabytes of data per day. The data rate of this radio is 500 kilobits per sec.

500 kilobits/sec = 5,400,000 kilobytes per day = 5.15 gigabytes per day

Maybe I'm oversimplifying things as I don't know all the technical nuances, but at least from this very simple calculation it seems feasible
