Verdict on the Macbook Air M2 15" 8GB:
  • Truly ideal form factor. Flat. Thin. Strong. Light.
  • Keyboard has less travel but is still quite tactile.
  • 8GB is probably less than I need, but the 24GB upgrade is probably goldilocks
  • The black enclosure allows me to visually acknowledge the computer less which is pretty satisfying
The computer it's substituting for, an MBP M1, is 14 inches and the extra inch of the MBA is nice without the computer feeling huge.
My intention was to use the MBA as a backup once my MBP is repaired, but I might exchange the 8GB MBA for a 24GB MBA and make it my primary and the MBP my backup.
What would it take for @k00b to hedge his bets with a badass non-Apple laptop instead of the MBA?
If selling 2nd hand you’d get a bunch more bang for your buck I’m sure.

lol I'd switch off apple if it weren't for being so used to it. I can't really afford the cost of a transition.
One of you fellas is running linux on a macbook iirc. That'd probably be my first stop.

Would love it if we can get you to do just that on your new daily driver. Create a partition for optionality.
I’m in a similar boat, it’s hard to switch. Mostly for the trackpad but also the app ecosystem and the UX.
I also see the trend with Apple, increasingly limiting opt-outs and making disabling software updates a challenge.

Go for the 25GB ... treat yo self. Assuming you spend an exorbitant amount of time in front of your laptop, it's worth it.
