Indeed, was about to write this. Why is this not an option? 1960-present? The OP must be kidding... Those are the worst... probably because WTF 1971...

I guess the OP meant the best decade in recent Western pop music, so I'm partly trolling here. Unfortunately many people think this is the whole history of music. I love all kind of music, including some "modern" music but Baroque music for instance is one of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Of course, here I mean "European" music, so this is biased too. If you're into other kind of music, let's say classical Indian music, I'm pretty sure there was a best decade too.
But to your point, it's interesting how the fiat system has affected music quality, so most of pop music today is totally garbage, just like our money...

This was tuff🤷‍♂️
60’s obviously wins because anything that came after spawned from it. It’s the hard truth.
I also could make a case for the 2000s just because that’s when computers started playing a much bigger role in production and music creation.
I suspect in the 2030’s we could see another leap with AI and maybe something new that hasn’t been invented yet. ATP music recordings will be basically informing itself in a way that we could have never believed.
Baseline. Any musician whoever recorded an album will be able to start a band/group with any artist to create a song in a different genre or even go on tour without being real the possibilities could be endless.
