The Saints didn't give the Rams as much of a game as I thought they might. Overall it wasn't a bad game but other than a small surge late by the Saints it never really was in doubt. Rams are hot right now, I think they get into the playoffs and maybe make some noise. I still think their D, especially the secondary, is a big question but they could be a tough out.
It seems like the Dodgers want to own Japan. First 700M for Ohtani and now 325M for Yamamoto. The guy looks great but that's a lot of money and term for a pitcher, especially one who hasn't thrown a pitch in MLB. Maybe now that the Dodgers have completed their Christmas shopping some other teams can something.
How about those Buffalo Sabres? Laying a 9-3 beating on the Toronto Maple Leafs. It's times like these I am reminded of the joy I used to get from the game of hockey. Strut your stuff @BlokchainB
Need some of our NBA fans to weigh in on the Pistons. Are they really the worst team of all time? I don't want to blame all this on Monty Williams but 13M for a coach of a 2-26 team.
NFL Week 16 Christmas edition pick 'em coming up shortly.
Sats for all, GR
Egregious officiating in the Heat vs Hawks. Trey's defenders are getting called for fouls when they aren't within 5ft of him.

Not that it matters but refs in the Raptors v.s 76ers have been pretty bad too.

All the hallmarks of a great game then!

Complaining about bad calls is a core element of sports fandom and it was otherwise a good game. So, yeah, it was pretty great game.

This might shock you but the Raptors lost by 10. Shot 9-33 from 3. While Philly shot 14-31 from 3. Otherwise the Raps had more points from the line, more rebounds, more steals, less turnovers. As usual they pretty much lost because they shot 3s worse than the other team.

That's frustrating. It seems like having a great football team with a terrible kicker who keeps blowing games.

11-16. They are only a game out of the play in but something needs to be done. It's time to move on from or at least augment this core group.
@gnilma back me up here!

I thought we agreed on the fact that having multiple primary scorers in your team playing the same type of game isn't very good for your team. They need to make up their mind. If they want to build around Barnes, then trade Siakam for a good shooter to compliment Barnes' game. If they want to keep Siakam, then pay the man and deal Barnes away. I don't think keeping both is good for them. It's apparent that they need better shooting. If you watch their games lately, the 3 ball not falling is common, but on top of that, it's either Siakam going off or Barnes going off. They take away each other's shots and don't really compliment each other. Make up their mind, trade one keep one, I think that's the best route for them.

I think they were probably hoping Barnes' shot would develop and that Siakam wouldn't keep getting worse from distance. If either of them could shoot they could probably play together.
Let's say it's Siakam who gets dealt. Are there any particular trade targets you think they should be going for?
Do they have any underutilized guys who might have trade value? That seems like the key to improving via trade: trade someone you're not using for someone you will use.
reply
Not really. Their main guys off the bench like Trent Jr, Flynn, Achiuwa tend to get solid minutes. Maybe Otto Porter Jr but at this point in his career I don't think he is much more than a depth piece. I guess maybe another team might have a larger role for Achiuwa and he has had some flashes of being really productive but hasn't shown it consistently.
On the Rams, if your defense is letting Derek Carr regularly convert red zone opportunities, you're in trouble.
On the Pistons, I doubt they're the worst team ever. They looked fine in the first few games and have since fallen off a cliff. I don't know what happened with them.

9-73 is the worst record of all time. Gotta imagine that's pretty tough to beat. Even though they are on pace to best that right now, I don't expect they will continue to play at this pace. I am sure they will beat the Raptors when they play each other. That's a Raptors thing to do.
reply
I love the symmetry with the best record ever.
