Radio repeaters are some of the best positioned decentralized communication points across the world.
The HAM radio demographic is an very aging population, however over time HAMs have claimed some of the most desirable territories in meat space for repeater locations and other natural geographic communication points (high ground with good line of sight). If bitcoiners were to join up to their local HAM circles, they could stand ready to inherit these decentralized communication points.
This is all the while being a good community member by making comms available during emergencies or natural disasters.
Learn the basics and fundamentals of the art of radio. Get involved in the local HAM community. Connect with other bitcoiners over the airwaves.
Great idea. Let me pick your brain. Just a hypothetical. In a hostile jurisdiction, is it possible to set up repeaters in a stealthy manner that would mask the location of the repeater? I would guess not, right? Are portable, mobile repeaters practical?

S2underground is an interesting channel to explore, especially the old videos... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTq1zHztiV69Ur8t6jco4CQ

Now you're talking. I haven't listened yet. Is this pirate radio oriented, or specifically repeaters?
reply
repeaters would be distinctly easier to geolocate due to increased power and static location. If you have a mobile setup and use radio discipline for brevity, it's harder to direction find you. That being said, if you're broadcasting a whole lot of power, spy satellites will easily geolocate you. low powered localized mesh networks might be optimal if you're trying to do a pirate radio of sorts. But you don't need to be under the radar to practice! Practice in the open with the normies. :)

You calling me abnormal? :)

if you're a Stacker, you're deviant from the majority, so yes. :)

I accept the compliment.

It's about the basics of detecting the origin of radio signals, applies to anything that emits a radio signal... I recently found this channel, it's a good entry point to be aware SIGINT techniques and from there dig deeper downthe rabbit hole :)

SIGINT is spooky stuff. Ask me about it sometime if we meet in person.

Would love for some HAM bitcoiners to get together and create a semi-comprehensive manual from basic to expert.

That's the point of this territory. :) To start, https://hamstudy.org is a great starting point, even if you're not getting licensed.
reply
Licensing is a point of bitcoin failure in the Ham space. You literally have to have 'permission'.
