Might you have earned more if there was a paywall on it and at least some readers did pay to read it? Perhaps.

But was maximizing your revenue your intent, or was communicating a message to the widest audience your intent. I suspect the latter. So putting a Lightning address or pay button on your blog would at least make it possible those of us who might be willing to flip some sats your way to do so.
