I always felt the Beatles were over rated. I could never explain to someone that I felt they were over hyped. The music was good, and they were iconic and without them we don't have so many artists.
And then I saw a tribute band, and I enjoyed every single track, and I started to change my tune on the Beatles. I also started to understand just how important they were to modern day music. And suddenly Beatles mania to me was no longer over hyped over formulaic stuff, it was important not for just it's stand alone value. But for its legacy.

We can agree to disagree about them being overrated. Overplayed? Maybe I'll give you that. The album Abbey Road is so good, musically, lyrically, in any way you can imagine. They didn't need to do anything else.

Perhaps that's a more fair assessment. Over played I think is much fairer.
