You've noticed it in early Mr. Robot episode titles, you've probably seen it used in Stackers nyms and you may have used it for fun (or even to written something secretly to a buddy) - I'm of course talking about Leetspeak.

'Leetspeak' is a system of modifying words with others in the know - and to have a laugh in the process.

The term 'Leet' stems from the word 'elite' and so you could call it 'elite speak' - a nod that the language is barely accessible to coders and those in the know.

One central use for leetspeak in the online communities has been in order to bypass online filters.

One very powerful thing about leetspeak is that it's creative and has no set rules so it can always evolve - because of this "leet' can change once again to evade being seen as trigger words.
