Exactly. My wife recently got irritated with one of our neighbours because she made a comment about our daughter being homeschooled. My response was "now you know why I don't talk to people".

The other day some lady practically told me her life story because I said Hi, how are you? I got home and told my wife of my error and said "Hi" only from now on.
