We have a new champ in the NFL pick 'em. The Rookie, @stargut, walks in and takes the title from a cast of veteran all stars with a perfect 3/3. The only person who had faith in the Seahawks or maybe just faith the Eagles late game luck has run out. I am sure our veterans will be back next week to ensure the rookie has a sophomore slump.
Overall the game wasn't very good but the last few minutes were definitely exciting.
The Lakers raised a banner for the in-season tournament championship. I guess it was well earned but feels to me more like a "tell me you aren't winning the nba championship, without telling me you aren't winning the nba championship" kind of thing. Thoughts?
Also in NBA news, despite their best efforts the Raptors did not lose to an undermanned, not very good Hornets team who lost by 53 points in the game prior. Last night's victory did not give me confidence this Raptors group can be anything more than a potential play in team. Maybe if they win the play in they can raise a banner (ok a bit too far- sorry Lebron).
We have a few people interested in joining a stacker sports fantasy baseball league this season. I think I even SN pilled the one other Blue Jays fan on nostr with prospect of a league. We are going to make our best efforts to make it as straightforward as possible. Set your lineup once a week and go. So let me know if you are interested. I know we are still many months away but it would be good to gauge how many potential teams we will have in the league.
Also if you are new around here and haven't joined our Bowl game challenge. You can show off your prognostication skills and win some sats here #341312.
Finally, for those who have been interested in football (soccer) content, new stacker, @WorldFootball has a few posts up.
Sats for all, GR
I think there's some 4-D chess going on with the Lakers raising that banner. Only the Celtics have as little incentive to add to their overcrowded rafters.
This is all part of the same phenomenon as LeBron taking the in-season tournament seriously in the first place. The NBA is negotiating a new TV deal and making the in-season tournament seem like a big deal is part of those negotiations. Remember that Lebron is planning on owning a team in the near future, so he's got his eyes on that TV money.

Fair point. I do think the in-season tournament was a big success and even though I was skeptical about it at first, it did add some intrigue to these early season games. In fact, it was so successful that the week after I didn't really watch any NBA because those were just regular, regular season games. Haha.
NBA must not be pleased about the NFL adding 3 games to Christmas Day. That's definitely going to hurt their TV numbers for Christmas day games.

I am not feeling confident in the Raptors continuing their giant killer streak tonight.
