Another fun weekend in the sports world.
UFC 296 had some strong matches and a bit of drama. Congrats to our first UFC pick 'em winner @Kaffi. You are now the oracle of the octagon until next PPV where you will defend your title against all comers. Hold that belt with pride.
There were a number of bowl games on Saturday and I did not pay attention to any of them.
Some good NFL games yesterday and the playoff picture is starting to take shape. The AFC should be quite exciting to see how the seeding and final playoff spots shake out the final few weeks of the season. The Bills are surging at the right time and the Bengals are hanging around despite not having Burrow.
Looking for some feedback from the community in regards to a baseball fantasy league that @needcreations_ is trying to put together for the 2024 season. He is suggesting a larger buy in of 50k or 100k sats but I suggested we might get more interest with a lower buy in. Would you guys be interested in participating in a fantasy baseball league on SN? and what buy in would you be comfortable with? You can check out his post here #356875. Feel free to share your ideas on his post or this one.
I will be on tonight at some point during MNF if anyone is around and will pay out the week 15 pick 'em winner after the game.
Sats for all, GR
Raider Nation will spend the remainder of the season rooting for our team to ruin KC's, Indy's, and Denver's seasons. A playoff birth seems out of reach for us.

Finish them!
Let's check in with the resident grudge guru @siggy47. How did he do?

Nothing's more satisfying than your kind of crappy team playing the role of spoiler. Except, of course, if your team wins the Super Bowl, which I haven't experienced since Broadway Joe.

We definitely lean into being the bad guys of the league. I think we finally have another coach who gets that.
One of Gruden's great lines from Hard Knocks was "I'm really not into dreams anymore. I'm into f'n nightmares."

I wouldn't trade what we did to the Chargers on Thursday for a playoff seat. Not only were we the final straw for Staley, their GM got fired too and now they're talking about hiring Belichick.
We might have ruined the Chargers for the remainder of Herbert's tenure.

I said I could probably be talked into being the 12th team but man fantasy baseball is just so involved

Hopefully we can make it as simple as possible.

Let me know if you guys want to join the fantasy baseball league and if you'd like to make a suggestion to the buy in/rules!
reply
Were you thinking of administering it all over SN or just coordinating participants/buy in through SN? If it is all over SN we should make the rules, transactions, line up setting as simple as possible. Maybe even having our teams only playing one or two games a week more similar to fantasy football. I haven't played fantasy baseball in many years but setting lineups every day is a huge chore and will be a lot to manage.
Baseball only ever gives teams off days on Mondays and Thursdays so we could feasibly have a 2 game a week schedule in our league coinciding on say a Tuesday and Saturday.

I was just planning on using ESPN haha. I don't really have time to do it all manually. And setting lineups really isn't that bad....set them all for the week on a day of your choosing. Sometimes guys get days off or the rotation changes slightly but most of the time you're good for setting your lineup for the entire week.

I think if we are setting lineups once per week and using another service to do the work for us then calculating daily stats is ok. Although I do kind of still like the idea of less games per week. We have a lot of time until the season to sort through all these ideas.
