Curious as to why you provided an archive link instead of a link to the actual source of the article? Is it to ensure the link survives for a prolonged period of time?

reply

Bloomberg has a paywall

reply

Ah. So using archive gets around the paywall or does someone have to have a subscription to bloomberg to be able to initially read the whole article and then generate the archive link?

reply

It gets around the paywall

reply

that's good to know! Thanks for the LPT!

The link for this post is using an archive for the article on Bloomberg's website. An archive has no paywall, no subscription requirement, and can be easier to read. The original article, on Bloomberg's website is:

The IRS Is Coming for Your Venmo Income

See also another post, found here on SN, which shares an article from The NY Post covering an explainer on this requirement released by the IRS:

When the paper from IRS is coming into your mail... return it back and writing on the envelope:
RETURNED FOR VALUE
NO CONTRACT
Please provide any document in which, I as a living man I signed and consent that you, as a government agency (aka private corporation) you have ANY jurisdiction or authority over my own money and labor.

They really don't understand or probably don't care about the long term consequences of the friction they create, how it harms small business and centralizes the economic, making it more simplistic and less competitive.
