First they came for your smartphone, then they wanted to get their smarts everywhere with IoT.
Fortunately most devices can be used without an account still today, and we have Linux and BSD that allow you to run your own OS in your own hardware. But that might change in the future, given the design of the new security chips in new computers.
And for mobile we have GrapheneOS, a great smartphone OS without any big tech into it. It's basically what Android should be.

They as in Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, etc.
Those are the companies providing these smart IoT devices to the mainstream. Also Windows, macOS, stock Android, and iOS, all of them come with ads and tracking by default.

I agree with you, that's why I continued typing and mentioning all the OSs you can have in different devices that are open source, so that you have full control of your devices.
