Cheap solutions for small amounts is a very hard problem, and it could very well be that there's no real solution to making self custody for small amounts flawless. The hosted channels I mentioned is not self custody, but could provide an entry point and done in trust minimized ways. Fedimints are lower costs financially, but the trade off is trust distributed across trusted custodians. There are always tradeoffs.
