One of the posters in my territory is repeatedly creating freebie posts. Obviously it's not an option on the edit menu. Any idea what's going on?
I didn't even know this was a feature until I looked in the code.
Apparently, if you run out of sats, you can still post limited visibility posts:
function FreebieDialog () {
  return (
    <>
      <div className='fw-bold'>you don't have enough sats, so this one is on us</div>
      <ul className='mt-2'>
        <li>Free items have limited visibility until other stackers zap them.</li>
        <li>To get fully visibile right away, fund your account with a few sats or earn some on Stacker News.</li>
      </ul>
    </>
  )
}

There you go. Thanks. I guess he's waiting to get zapped. Maybe there should be a post limit on this?

another mystery one. I think someone is playing with the API and spamming anon: #344101
I saw a bunch of the same cat gif spammed by anon today.

I think that's a friendly spirit just having fun. I've seen that feline before.

Where's the Money, Lebowski?

Would you like the option to turnoff freebies in a territory?
reply
Yes. I think that's a great idea.

Done!

Thanks very much. That was fast. Only 11,237 more and you're done.

I'll add to The List™️

You can probably bind that list into a book.

lol I've always imagined it more like a scroll

Turns out the account has been on SN for less than a day. So far it's earned 324 sats. So, its gaming the system by posting, withdrawing, and posting again with a zero balance. Perfect spam plan.
