Most of us have heard of The Byzantine Generals Problem, and I'm sure we have different degrees of understanding about what it is. I was only introduced to it through my exposure to bitcoin.
Are there other 'problems' like it which a solution could cause the type of outsized impact we expect bitcoin to have?
What I like about this question is that people assume that all big problems that can be solved have been solved. It certainly feels like we've slowed down solving these big, hard problems, but I don't think we'll ever stop solving them.

P=NP and AGI come to mind in CS.
Time travel, unifying physics, dark matter, and faster than light travel come to mind in physics.
