What if self custodial Lightning would just be another account in your hardware wallet software?

Together with Breez, we're working to give BitBox02 users the easiest and most practical self custodial lightning solution they can imagine.

One lightning wallet shared between all your devices, backed up on your hardware wallet.

Here's a recent update showcasing the integration:

Interesting development here, let see how far it can go

Excited to see how this development evolves! Self-custody with lightning is difficult.

Lightning Network on a hardware wallet is a major win for the Bitcoin Community

reply

I thought all lightning wallets had to be hot wallets.

reply

It is a hot wallet, but backed up on your hardware wallet

reply

Would this mean a BitBox app for iOS that just handled lightning? Then the BitBox desktop app would handle topping up the lightning wallet from cold storage (due to lack of USB support for BitBox on iOS).

reply

This is technically possible and something we are considering.

We're going to focus on desktop and android at first though.

Could anyone help why I am not able to receive and send btc on lightning?
I am not an advanced tech guru. I read many articles and set fees higher but nothing seems to help. I am using phoneix wallet. I always get the message that "no channels available to send payment". But I have channels obviously and enough funds as well.

When did you setup your phoenix wallet? Perhaps your channel is still confirming due to the high fee environment recently?

reply

I think it was around a year ago or more

reply

Very strange. Maybe message their support?
