YouTube is the second most visited website after Google.

We all know it; if you enter terms like "bitcoin" or "what is bitcoin" you get an endless list of crappy content.
Trader clowns and other nonsense and if you're very very lucky, you may catch a piece of swan, simply bitcoin or a solid bitcoin-only podcast - given you scroll long enough. At times YouTube even showed outright scams (send one btc get two back) as livestreams on top positions.

Why is that and does it have to be that way?

A few reasons come to mind:

  1. The YouTube algorithm is out of control and has been taking on a life of its own. Nobody fully understands it anymore and therefore it can't meaningfully filter content.
  2. The traders are a lot better optimizing for the YouTube algorithm.
  3. It's a problem of the masses. Because the masses are simple and want fun, low quality content wins.
  4. Bitcoiners suck at producing good content and optimizing for the YouTube algorithm.
  5. Google has a backdoor deal with big banks so they shadowban quality education.

Likely it's a mix of all of the above and truly a reflection how early we are. We live in the peak fiat era and everything is optimized for scamming each other. Humanity has lost 100 years of progress.

Just imagine YouTube search would spit out amazing, engaging, high-quality bitcoin education.

The algo is programmed by commie clowns that are following their central planning overloards like little dogs and pi..ing themselves when somebody opens the window to reality a little bit

This is a wonderful answer. You have a great choice of words and are able to spark the readers imagination. Great storytelling and deep thinking right here :) "Susan, please take down Swan ASAP"

The YouTube algorithm is out of control

You don't get it. The algo does exactly what it's supposed to do, it maximizes clicks. So it optimizes for people who like to mindlessly follow it.

Probably. The problem is that spammers always find ways to exploit it which requires them to patch it. This creates complexity and unintended effects, typical to central planning. It definitely results in a race to the bottom in terms of intellectual quality.
