[Posting so nobody has to go through what I did]
Upon graduating from college, I encountered my first asthma attack—a distressing experience that felt akin to drowning. Everything is well with you, except you are in capable of breathing in enough oxygen.
For a prolonged period of 2-3 years, I relied on an inhaler as a temporary solution, akin to a mere band-aid for the recurring issue.
Fortunately, a turning point emerged when a relative of mine, a Ph.D. holder in yoga and a university professor, entered my life. Taking me under their wing, they imparted a repertoire of breathing techniques through Pranayama.
I made it a habit to practice this every morning and thanks to god I never had an attack ever again.
Nowadays I practice the now popular Wim Hof technique(Also type of pranayama) and swim a lot often.
Feel free to ask me anything if you or someone you care about is dealing with asthma—I am more than willing to share insights and experiences that may be of help.
