Context from the article:
The lawsuit, filed on October 30, states that that Microsoft, Epic Games, Activision Blizzard, EA, and others “use patented designs, algorithms and marketing containing addictive features and technology” leading to addiction.
Also from the article:
Now, I’ll post the entire suit below this article, so that you can go and read it in its entirety if you would like. But, seriously…don’t. I did and it’s 129 pages and it’s an absolute mess.
Perfectly sums up what is going on in the psyche of grown adults these days.
What will it take for people to take some responsibility for their lives and mistakes?
All those lost hours, not showing an interest in their child’s future or education. No lawsuit will get that back, I’m afraid.
gg. Thanks for playing!

You don't even have to be a gamer to see how sad this is.

Thanks for adding context. Very few do this. Big zap for your efforts.

Much appreciated, thanks! I always try to add context and appreciate when others do too.

For a second there, I thought the title was for a @thebitcoinbugle article.
reply
If only, lol.
Love the Bugle, btw.
reply
The Bugle headline would be, "Video game companies sue parents over children video game addiction."
reply
Of course.
reply
Now video games are blamed for addiction
Before they were blamed for school shootings
What's next?
But these addictive features definitely exist and I don't like how the video game industry - at least AAA titles - have become cash grabs.
reply
We’ll now know when hyperbitcoinization has happened.
When video games and VR is blamed for people storing all their pocket money out of the reach of their parents 😂 and when their 9 year old kids have a higher net worth than the parents.
reply
yeah it's tough, i also very much dislike the trend toward cash grabs in triple a titles, and i agree that lootbox mechanics are intentionally predatory, and shouldn't be targeted at children. but suing a video game company because your shitty kid plays fortnite 7 hours a day is a bit much for me. take some personal responsibility
reply
anything that's enjoyable can become addictive. parents are supposed to teach impulse control, not video game companies.
reply
Exactly.
