From 1948, until 2013, Voice of America was forbidden to broadcast directly to American citizens to protect the American public from propaganda actions by their own government.
The only reason for the ban being dropped in 2013 was that the Internet had allowed U.S. citizens to hear it for years anyway...
reply
As someone not from America this is hilarious to me.
The idea that a government-funded international radio and television broadcasting service with the stated mission "to serve as a reliable source of news and information" wasn't spreading propaganda seems about as insane as thinking it's not still happening.

reply
Says a lot. I really had a low opinion of Bitcoin magazine up until they gave the FED the finger with the whole "FEDNOW" bullshit , that's pretty rad , but to be honest their actions to date have been woeful . They lost a lot of thier Bitcoin in the Three Arrows Capital thing , like fools , and tthey are constantly shilling for shitty pump and dump NFT nonsense like those Taproot Wizard clowns.

When ocean-going container ships unload some containers at a port of call, they must retain a balanced weight distribution throughout the vessel. To do this, they fill giant tanks of water that they have on either side, called "ballast water tanks", to compensate for uneven weight distribution.
However, ballast water picked up at one port could contain aquatic species that would be invasive at the next port if the ballast water were to be discharged there, causing ecological damage to the local environment. This has been the cause of many disturbances in the past.
Therefore, there are several regulations and best practices surrounding the management of ballast water on ocean-going vessels.

A bug led to the accidental creation of 184 billion BTC in 2010 Known as the value overflow incident, this bug led to the accidental creation of a huge number of coins in August of 2010 at block height 74638. Satoshi or another developer fixed the error within 5 hours of its occurrence by releasing a patched Bitcoin client (version 0.3.10) which ignored the excess coins.
