I've been using this with a self-hosted instance for notifications on production deployment at work, it's the best way to know if a deploy went well of not without having to keep track of it.

You can also set it in a MOTD script on a server to know who and when has logged on a server, via SSH for example.

And of course script it out for whatever you want, you can automate the clients too.
