It's a "decentralized" ledger protocol. Currently controlled by a few central mining pools (around 50% china based). Trustless. In the sense that an enormous amount of btc (like 25%) is owned by a dozen adresses, so trust less, when you hear someone say how much btc is going to become worth. Ask them how much they stand to gain by telling others to keep buying.
