We also celebrate el día de los muertos but we call it el día de los difuntos, same thing... very similar to the Mexican culture but without the Katrina or skulls and stuff, more like gathering with the fam visiting their Graves, saying prayers, remembering fun stuff. The most cultural thing about it is the food lol My mom preps all kinds of sweets and cheesy bread oh man, don't get me started 😅... Fun fact: Tamales is a very cultural thing in Ecuador, as well lol
I find the whole celebration as joyous. I hope it becomes universal.
