Overall, it was a fairly quiet NFL trade deadline. Commanders essentially giving away a former number 2 overall pick to the 49ers for a 3rd round comp pick was a wonderful and appreciated gift. I have no idea what the Bears were doing trying to buy and sell at the same time.
It has been a fairly interesting first half of the season with a lot of upsets. Lions, Jags, Dolphins have surprised me to the upside (I thought they all were good but maybe not this good) and the Bills, 49ers, Bengals, Chiefs, and even the Eagles to an extent have surprised me with their inconsistency. It will be interesting to see how the second half plays out and the playoff seedings shape up. Shill me your second half thoughts or surprises.

Sats for all.
Cheers, GR
The bears man. What are they doing. Unless they extend sweat immediately, they just paid a 2nd for half a year rental when he walks in FA. All the while not trading CB Johnson. Who's requested a trade. They're like one foot in one foot out. The get for the 9ers is huge. I'm glad we've already played you, I don't wanna come up against that Dline. That's almost negligent of the league to allow any QB to play against it.

I heard someone bring up comp picks wrt Sweat walking after this season. They would likely still get a 3rd pick back, so it's lower risk than it seems.
reply
Hadn't heard that. Much less risky.
reply
I still don't understand exactly how comp picks work. It seems to me like more teams should be taking swings like that, if the risks are so low.
reply
I'm not entirely sure the league knows how the comp formula works either 🤣🤣 can be very inconsistent.
reply
I believe you get a comp pick if an unrestricted free agent who is ranked in the top 35% of all players at the positions signs with another team. I don't know exactly how they determine who is in the top 35% and at what levels it becomes a 3rd round pick or a 5th round pick etc.
reply
I heard someone say Sweat would have to get at least $18 million in free agency for a 3rd round comp pick, so it might just be based on contract.
reply
Yes that makes sense.

How are you feeling about the Josh Dobbs era?
reply
I'm curious to see what hall can do. If he's the dude, great, if he's not, well then we'll improve our draft place. As for Dobbs, I think it was a smart insurance move, but I think we should roll with hall. Dobbs is fine and I'm ok with giving up a 6th for him and a 7th (which could turn into a 6th under some conditions). Good insurance move. I was sad to see Ezra go, but i hope it works out for him, he's a LT really that's just been playing LG, hope he gets T money, would have liked to have kept him for oline depth, but he in a contract year, if he walks we get like a 25 5th or something. So we just turned that into a 24 6th which is ok.
reply
I checked his stats he was graded fairly well. Your OLine played great against the 49ers. Cousins was getting the ball out quick though so that helps.
reply
How did the Jets NOT add a lineman?!
reply
Hard to come by.

The Vikings traded 1
reply
True and he is playing pretty well this year.
reply
I'm sure the Jets could have threw in a bag of balls to get the deal done

I think @k00b is throttling us today. This engagement is pitiful, but the revolution will live on.
Somehow, the tournament post isn't even on the top page, despite dozens of comments (mostly by me) and thousands in zaps.

Thanks for the plug! This first slate of games kinda blows, unfortunately.
On happier news, the Raiders cleaned house and we no longer have to suffer through Josh McDaniels' miserable offense. Surprise, the Irish Cannon is leading the Raiders on a late season playoff push.
reply
That's good news for the Raiders. Jimmy is an expensive back up.

People are talking about how we need to cut him, but it seemed like he handled getting benched in SF pretty well. We have to pay him either way, so he may as well be on the roster as QB2.
reply
No point in cutting him this season. Maybe in the offseason.
