Often excessive learning seems to be down to a lack of confidence or procrastination
Stop attacking me, thought this was a safe space!
In all seriousness I love learning things just because knowing is fun. But it also cripples my ability to take action, or at least I think. While studying the last 3 years I worked in a tighter group of peers, and one which I just loved working with most often said to me "Stop thinking and just do", something which I try to do more hehe.
I can analyze things and look around for the top three ways to attack a problem, gather semi shallow knowledge around it and first after take action. This is hindering to some extent. Following his advice was to simply fuck around and find out if it was good - which in some ways taught me even more and faster since I had practical knowledge now.
And at least for me, more practical knowledge trumps more theoretical knowledge. In terms of moving the needle.

all about understanding what you're consuming and what you're creating...learning can feel like the latter but really can be the former
both are necessary

Interesting idea. Certainly true!

That is absolutely true of me, with some lack of direction sprinkled in. I knew I could succeed academically, so I just kept going, but I never had an idea of what the end goal was supposed to be.

‘Begin with the end in mind’… although sometimes it’s about the journey I guess and there is value in that experience
