Nine years ago while exiting a military museum, right at the exit you have the souvenirs shop and soon after a couple of individuals in security in the exit, answering questions and with a jar for "Tips". I noticed the jar was empty and it was almost the end of the day. I felt for them, not many people carry cash I thought to myself and silly me, I decided to give them a suggestion...
  • Me: Good afternoon. How are you guys doing today.
  • Lady at the desk: Fine, thanks for asking, Did you enjoy the museum?
  • Me: very much, thanks. Hey I am looking at the tip jar and it pains me I do not carry any cash, only cards and if you use Bitcoin, I could tip you with it
  • Lady at the desk: Yes, we really do not get much tips, I guess you are right. But wait, you mentioned Bitcoin?
  • Me: Yes
  • Lady at the desk: But that is only used and owned by Criminals, How come you have it? Are you a criminal?
  • Me: That is a misconception, Bitcoin is .... 10 minutes of orange pilling ....
  • Young guy at the desk: He is right, I have read about it, we should perhaps consider it
  • Lady at the desk: No way, I saw it on CNN, only criminals use it
Now we have several financial corps applying for Bitcoin ETFs and the cherry of the pie, last Monday, I heard the CEO of Blackrock, the biggest financial institution worldwide, call Bitcoin, a "flight to quality" speaking to Fox Business...
That change rapidly, I wonder what that lady I spoke nine years ago at the desk of the military museum thinks now about Bitcoin....
well it clearly is used by criminals now

Considering Bitcoin is pseudonymous, if that is the case, poorly informed criminals. Most criminals are smart enough to use cash, cyber-criminals will use Monero since it is, well known, has plenty of liquidity, and it is truly anonymous and private from the get go.
Using Bitcoin anonymously and privately is possible, but it requires effort and know how and it has a premium cost, I do not believe it is worth it when you have better alternatives in the market you can use easily.

I am talking about Blackrock and all the criminal ventures jumping into ETF.

I see what you mean

I don't know how I am going to tell my family about this.

Cool story!
Did you tell her that most criminals use USD because it is much less traceable than bitcoin? The amount of money spent on KYC/AML from a recent SN post is illustrative: #291130
I guess the phrase "that people get bitcoin at the price they deserve" rings true!

100%, and yes, I told her that... But her body language was clear, she took the CNN pill and a stranger would not change her mind... Fun times...

She probably hasn't thought about it. Sounds like she outsources her thinking.

Amusing, you are probably right
