I agree. In my experience most judges would not have been this compassionate

Stealing is wrong but he doesn’t deserve to be mistreated in prison for his crime. If true then I think this is a fair punishment.

That's practically a vacation package!   Maybe they'll throw in a spa day for good behavior.  :-)

The judge really must have liked him. A year and a day is a great federal sentence. If you are  sentenced to more than a year, you get good time. He'll probably do about 9 months in a minimum security facility. Tennis and a nice gym.
