No, you don't want to do that, LN Bitcoin is for spending, from few cents up to about 500 USD, not for saving.

A Seed Signer, which most people call "hardware wallet", is only needed to hold your saving securely. If you want to go this path, I would suggest "Sparrow Wallet" for desktop with the Seed Signer (you call it hardware wallet) "Passport", check my profile, I have an article about seed signers that could interest you. I would assume you do not want to carry your savings in your mobile and therefore, Bitcoin wallets for small amounts don't require a seed signer, at least the risk/reward ratio is not one that will balance in favor of the seed signer. And you prefer a Bitcoin wallet instead of a LN wallet because you understand the trade offs and you don't want to trust any middle man no matter what, Samurai wallet is one with great privacy features, they go above and beyond to assist users to gain that much desired privacy while transacting.

As for security with LN Wallets, your best option will be to use your own node and opening and managing your own channels, but that requires you to inform yourself, install and run your own node, study the LN and you will have to commit some of your time to maintain and balance the LN channels.

Being less informed, I would recommend you a wallet that does give a certain level of control and security with trade offs in terms of counter party risk, it is FOSS and a novelty due to its way of handling the channels, which is Phoenix Wallet. You will pay a little bit more in fees but that is the tradeoff risk/reward. If you are the trusty type and you do not care about privacy or security, there are many LN wallets out there fully custodial (they own your funds and you trust they will not steal them) for you waiting, just do a quick search, most probably they will pop first... Perhaps you could consider a Centralized Exchange wallet in this case... Like trusting a bank...

If you want to learn more and do everything yourself with your own Node, Zeus LN Wallet would be my choice, just my opinion, you do your own research, don't take the word of any person here as the true or the best option for we are all different and no matter how certain someone sounds in a post, he/she may be misguiding you or completely clueless...
