I live here in SF coinosphere. SF is about the same population as Austin. Using 2022 data, SF has significantly fewer homicides (56 compared to 71). Rapes and violent crimes are lower as well. The smaller landmass of SF (it's a very small city about 7 miles across at its widest points) makes everything seem closer. Feinstein was SF mayor in the 80s... Not sure how her policies back then translate to the immediate 2023 environment? My issues with the city (which are few) have nothing to do with the twitter talking points people like sharing.
It takes a long time to screw up a city that badly. Changing all those zoning laws to forbid building more affordable housing, for instance, is squarely in her court from what I've heard.

Affordable housing lol you donkey. As if affordable housing was ever possible this close to Silicon Valley without subsidized vouchers. Maybe they'll build some "affordable" boat slips in Marina Del Rey next. I need a place to put my canoe.

Um, you do realize that the only reason rents are so high there is because the mayor of SF has kept the # of floors in most buildings down to a few, right? SF has almost no high-rises!
And don't give me the speech about earthquakes, because the business district DOES allow high rises. It's like they aren't even trying to hide their tyranny.

Keep pretending like you care. I liked the "!" as well - nice emotive touch. 40% of high-rises are empty, but yeah, let's get that zoning fixed right away. Do you do this annoying moral high-ground thing with friends and family, or is it just for social media strangers?
