It has been an eventful morning. I spoke to the guy who owns the deli. Turns out that he was away for the week when I paid my visit. That's why I had to pay on chain. We had a great conversation. He is deeply into bitcoin, to the extent that he wants to visit El Salvador. He accepts lightning, has had meet ups in the deli, and is no newbie. I encouraged him to join SN. There is a whole local bitcoin community near me that I didn't know existed. He said that's because everyone keeps to themselves. There's a lesson to be learned there.
OMG. That is awesome. Kick over the Bitcoin rock and look what comes out. Such amazing news. Get him on SN as a referral!

A warm welcome awaits. Let’s be honest I am not likely to get to an out-of-the-way NY deli anytime soon (sadly) but I can recommend it to other bitcoiners who might!

I know. Anyone visiting New York will stay in the city. I'm more focused on trying to help build a local community. My next step is to find other local businesses and get them on BTC Map. An example. Last night I was traveling north of New York City. I checked my BTC Map app to see if there were any local businesses around that I could patronize for a cup of coffee or snack. Unfortunately I came up empty, but now I will make a habit of it.

Time to start a coffee shop meetup.

That's my hope. Apparently he has held them in the past. It looks to me like there was some sort of meetup that fell apart during covid/bear market.
