I wrote about "Satoshi Day" back in 2017, see below:
Okay, since it needs to be done, and somebody's gotta do it, I'm naming the day when one satoshi is on even par with one USD penny as "Satoshi Day". The US dollar is the symbolic de facto fiat and the penny is the smallest unit. A satoshi is the smallest bitcoin unit. When 1 penny = 1 satoshi, we're there. Things are not as far away as one might think. A single penny is worth only 110 satoshi right now. And with bitcoin rising, that satoshi-to-penny ratio is dropping. Maybe somebody with better math skills can figure out what one penny was worth in satoshi a year ago...must have been a few hundred satoshi to one penny. It's happening.
Traditions will be needed when the Satoshi Day comes. Fireworks? Songs? Lighting your favorite fiat bill on fire and launching it with one of those Chinese lantern things?
So, my questions:
  1. Do y'all think we'll ever get to Satoshi Day?
  2. If yes, are these good ideas to celebrate or should there be others (or none at all)?
My thoughts these years later:
  1. Yes
  2. After thinking it over, I'll pass on the fireworks...too many wildfires and silly people blowing off fingers. Maybe a drone lightshow in the sky instead would suffice. Songs, yes, we need songs. Here's "The Hodl Song". Don't judge! :) Chinese lantern things? Fun, but also fire hazards and pretty much just launching litter into the air to enjoy a few minutes of "ooh, ahh." So, maybe not on that those either. Perhaps this circles back to the drone lightshow...pretty, fun, geeky, and celebratey.
Thoughts?
Anything related to fiat is kind of meaningless. Fiat is the past. A dark past that should not be celebrated. If you celebrate a parity between bitcoin and fiat, no matter the unit you choose, is still celebrating fiat.
So no, I want to get rid totally of fiat,. not even mention it anymore, and you want to celebrate it. Fuck no.
