I'm sure there would still be work for economists. However, a lot of what we study are fiat caused problems, so I might have to move into a niche specialty.
The world will become such a bad place because there are too many economists. Economists are nothing but a bunch of delusional people interpreting data and making incorrect recommendations.

That's more absolute of a statement than it should be, but you're basically right. Don't worry about there being too many of us, though, because our skills have a lot of industry demand, so we'll just start doing stuff that actually helps people.
