I'm confident that Bitcoin would still be significant as a store of value even with no layer 2 action. That's precisely how Bitcoin is supposed to function, it's not supposed to be easy to move or compromise. But the layer 2 functionality that enables more fluidity without sacrificing the inherent security was built into the protocol and is also significant to continued growth.
Let's not lose sight of the fact that this solid foundation is vital to Bitcoin. We need to work as a community to keep finding solutions to engender continued adoption and growth, but the fundamentals underpin it all and will never change.
