Hi!
I would like to buy a hardware wallet in some time, but I do not want to spend a lot of money on popular solutions. Do you know any cheap hardware wallets that might interest me? Yes I know I can create a free paper wallet for long term hodling :)

Seed phrase stamped into metal and a usb stick with tails.
If you haven't already look up DarthCoin's articles, I don't agree with some of his view but hit technical theory on how to handle you BTC is top notch.

I just read some and actually the theory is great. Of course, I also do not agree with some of his views but he creates great content. I would like something other than a seed stored on a USB because I would like to access my wallet sometimes and such an imported seed is "burned".

No I'm not saying save the seed on the usb. Just use that tails usb to access that wallet and use the seed phrase and you only really need to do that when you are taking funds off that wallet. And if you are a good little Hodler you shouldn't be doing that.
When you setup that wallet you can copy a few addresses down by hand or snap a photo of a QR code and all you need to do to send funds to that wallet is use those addresses, no need to open it up

okay you meant using electrum in tails + save seed on paper or metal

You got it. Please don't just write the seed on paper. Treat it like a backup, 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Multiple copies in multiple locations (secure of course) across multiple mediums.

Look up alphabet metal stamps on amazon and then go get some washers form the hardware store.

Okay meaning something like this. There are other types such as seed punching or arranging from letters in such forms

Blockstream Jade ($65), especially if you use Blockstream Green, which I believe is the wallet with the best UI/UX in all of bitcoin at the moment.
Try to find something with open-source software, and that is bitcoin only.

About $50, I can also build it because I own rpi 3b and I have seen for example seedsigner

Seedsigner is great. Build your own device. I am unaware of anything under $65 or so that is reputable. There was an issue in Brazil, I can't find the link to the story, where a scam company sold hardware devices for $20 that were malware infested and robbed everyone. Also as I'm sure you know, don't buy a hardware device from a 3rd party.

Currently I saw that ledger has a promotion (-30%) on 3 color variants of Ledger Nano S. With taxes in EU it comes out to about $60.5.

It's not open source or bitcoin only, but you could do worse.

Ledger is a fairly popular and proven hardware wallet. Of course, there was an affair some time ago with the Ledger Nano X and the extraction of keys from the device🤣

I own rpi3b so I can build and the rest of the parts are not expensive. The problem because rpi 3 is too big and rpi 0 is better for that but it is quite expensive. The most important thing is that it works rather than looks😅

Air-gapped operation is a good option for older mobile phones that are not connected to the Internet. It's just that there is currently no clean operating system (Networking must be removed) that can be easily installed on various mobile phones.
You can diy seedsigner.

Jade is a good option in my opinion. If you are in the US is way cheaper than in Europe.
Also my second best option is to use a pendrive with Tails and Electrum.
I think the value of your bitcoin portfolio has to be bigger than your monthly salary before investing on a hardware wallet.

I really like tapsigner + nunchuk wallet. Super easy multisig, one key is stored on your phone, and one is stored on the NFC card.

A cheap option is buy an esp32 board (with a case) and flash the firmware of Blockstream Jade (bitcoin only).
This is a technical and experimental DIY, but if you not willing to spend for an original Jade, this might be the option
