I'm looking for topic ideas for my research & writing so I'm reaching out to the Stacker News community for ideas.
I write about Bitcoin, Security, Energy, Proof of Work mining & Lightning Network here: https://onbitcoin.substack.com/
Keep writing those guides. Is good. Put yourself in the place of a nocoiner that want to start with Bitcoin, in any situation. Start testing yourself, as of you know nothing. Take notes in the process and in the end put together all and finish a nice guide. Don't try to use fancy words and too much technical details. Noobs will not understand.
Education is the key. And start with your closest friends and family, let them read your writings. In the end are for them not for other bitcoiners. Bitcoiners already know what you are writing.

Thanks for this. Great insights and I agree on writing for people who know nothing. :)
Are you thinking about scientific research, or popular writing?
For scientific I would have couple ideas like:
  • How to measure privacy on Bitcoin?
  • What are the top time sinks in user journey when using Bitcoin? (i.e. where is most of the time wasted?)
  • Which Bitcoin concepts are the hardest to understand?
  • What are monetary needs of citizens in a specific country (pick one)?
This is obviously just first round, to get to the actual research question, you would have to get more specific.

These are great. My goals are to help others in various areas of Bitcoin from wallets and transactions to nodes and mining. Thanks for your input. :)

What are people arguing about when orange pilled people are confronted with normies?
This question often boils down to only a few words. People rarely argue about topics - most of the time it is about underlying values.
You could explore that - deep deep research topic.
Is it just decentralization - that they don't see/understand the vale of decentralization? Or are they even deeper values, feelings and principles?
reply
Deep. I like it. Values are a big part of this for sure.

Thanks. Good idea.
What's the best way to secure your stack? I'd love to see a guide on how to determine your threat model and when to use multisig, passphrases, hardware wallets, how to store back ups, etc.

This one is on my list.
I have written on bitcoin mining security and threat modeling for home miners.
More on securing your stack is a good one.

The first question my friends and family usually ask is always a clarification of “why does it have value if it’s just digital?”
