It was an amazing feat of engineering, and it's probably one of the highlights of US history. They managed to get to the moon before Unix Epoch, which starts in 1970. Incredible really.
If you want to hear at the original audio of the missions, I highly recommend listening to The Race for Space from Public Service Broadcasting, a really cool album with great songs that tell the story of the race to the moon landing.
