Thanks a lot for that info... that difference actually looks like a point in favor to the google version.... I'm doing a series of video tutorials on Amethyst and most portuguese speakers in Brazil don't speak/read english. 

But I understand the logic to use F-Droid... I'll mention about it anyways.

The main difference AFAIK is the automated translator embedded in the google version, if you choose English as your main language all messages will be translated without your intervention, convenient, but, all messages are being read by the translate API of google

Is there any substantial difference between the F-Droid release or Play-Store? 

First time I used, I've downloaded on Play Store but I don't remember why I had to switch to the F-Droid Version downloaded from GitHub. There was a reason, but I can't remember...
