I find it's better to follow independent journalists that you have vetted over a period of time. Outlets are prone to agendas and corporate-political influence. Independent journalists, much less so. But as @edulopesf said, you gotta mix it all up to help find the mean.

These are some more well-known examples, but good journalism doesn't require popularity; just that someone goes outside and accurately reports what they fucking see with their goddamn eyes.

Hacker news is pretty good. I sometimes check the discussions first to see if the article is worth it. But style has changed over the last year or two... too many low effort comments and reddit style trying to be funny comments have made it less and less what it used to be.
