Just not UK / US / Canada / Australia, as it's a pain to factory reset devices when crossing those borders
(all these countries have right of full access to your phones / laptops etc when entering)

could be related to policy standardisation, but the powers are quite new, enacted in the last couple of years.
to little fanfare, of course.

arrested for not giving up the passwords to his devices
this can happen to anyone who crosses the aforementioned borders
all you can do is to use empty "travel" devices, or perform full reset and restore after you get through the border
