I have lived and visited a few walkable or mostly walkable cities: Tokyo, Wellington NZ, Taipei, Hong Kong. I enjoyed the lifestyle which enables more compact cities and exploration, and the odd time I need to go further an uber or rental car is enough.

The car-required cities I have lived in were often ugly, spread out, and lacked the romance of ‘bumping into an old friend’ on the street.

Cars have their purpose though, each to their own.
